Actress Ambujam aka Nisha (Trisha) is stressed out on relationship with her fiancé Madhana Gopal (Madhavan) and decides to spend few days with her friend Deepa (Sangeetha) in Paris. He takes her profession of acting into the usual doubts that are raised in a common man. But he doesn’t want to leave at an ease. He keeps her doubting and wants to make sure that he finds out her infidelity and get the news published that Famous Businessman Madhana Gopal refuses to marry actress Nisha. On her journey to Paris, Madhana Gopal gets the aid of Major Mannar (Kamal Haasan), a detective and an ex Indian army to follow her up and make a note of her activities.

First things first, Kamal Haasan has done a tremendous job in story, screenplay and dialogues. As a narrator, he has taken the storyline so keenly with the right mix of emotions and comedy moments on equality. The audiences are made sure that they enjoy the next 2hrs15mins in absolute entertainment. He maintains a low profile in characterization wise as he doesn’t opt for a big star opening as his introduction part takes nearly after 20mins. The first half is full of comedy and bar sequences involving Madhavan and Sriman is so funny. After a very long time we see Madhavan in a stupendous character. He tickles our funny bones now and then at many portions. Trisha dubbing with her own voice and seen without skin shows is a special surprise. Thanks to Kamal Haasan for utilizing her to the best. Sangeetha proves to be a good actress in comedy roles as well. Ramesh Aravind and Oorvasi have acted in Kamal Haasan’s films in comedy oriented characters, but this time they have something different for you. Oviya is wasted and Suriya’s cameo is surprising.

Soon after watching the movie, you can be sure that the first half is handled by Kamal Haasan while the scenes after flashback have been given to the authority of K.S. Ravikumar. He tries to overcome the emotional things with his usual comedy portions of bringing all characters together towards the climax.

The climax is unpredictable and at the same time not so convincing. It may vary in perceptions from the different set of audiences.

Devi Sri Prasad’s ‘Neela Vaanam’ makes your senses melt and the picturing of flashback in reverse mode is creative. Kamal Haasan’s touch is so blatant here.

Camera works in the cruise and editing is done perfectly.

For the whole, ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ will rock at theatres for this season and will be a successful winner in box office.

Vettaikaran was one of the most awaited movie of Vijay in the year 2009.The movie stars actor Vijay and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles.Vettaikaran’s story is based in unwanted elements that needs to be removed from the society and the country.

Vijay plays the role of an auto driver in the movie. His role reminds us of superstar Rajinikanth, who played the role of an auto driver in the hit Baasha. Actress Anuskha, Arundhati fame, plays the role of a medical college student.

Naan Avanillai 2 is a 2009 Indian Tamil film directed by Selva. It is a sequel to the 2007 Tamil film Naan Avanillai. Jeevan reprises the lead role, while the female roles are enacted by Sangeetha, Lakshmi Rai, Shweta Menon and Sruthi Prakash, who starred in the film Indira Vizha and Rachana Maurya.

Review

Filmmaker Selvah’s remake of Naan Avan Illai proved to be a black horse at box office and after now he’s proving of his adeptness again with its sequel. Nearly couple of years, The Master of Deception is back in business with his tritely conniving styles. Jeevan plays the same role of a conman transfixing the filthy rich girls (Lakshmi Rai, Hema Malini, Swetha Menon and Rakshana), whose dreams are barely about money, diamonds and an obedient servant-like-husbands.

Sangeetha gears on for an exceptional role sans glamour while rest of the actresses seem to have crossed their limits of glam-quotients. Especially Hema Malini turns to be topped on these charts as she does nothing other than skin shows. On the pars, Rakshana and Swetha Menon strive to get their skins exposed to extreme…. But it’s really puzzling on who’s actually designing costumes for Lakshmi Rai.

Technically, the film hasn’t got anything special to mention about. It looks like music director Imman had just scored the music without any interests. Or maybe, Selvah requested him not to strain too much for best tunes.

Though Jeevan’s scheming acts are quite enjoyable, they lack logicalities. The best part to be appreciated is Selvah’s sleek screenplay and his ability to present an entertaining film with a short duration of just 105mins.

New Malayalam Movie Kerala Cafe Review

A short story of ten minutes, often can talk much more and present you with more intense feelings than one film that goes on for an uncontrolled 150 minutes. Exactly that was the challenge offered by Renjith to ten different directors of Mollywood, who were used to in making lengthy dramas. And here in ‘Kerala Cafe’, these Mollywood directors are proving without any doubt, why they are celebrated as effective narrators of interesting stories. Based on a single theme of ‘Yathra’ or journey, this is really a world class attempt and experience, a proud offering from the brilliance of Mollywood.

The stories in ‘Kerala Cafe’, though in a common theme are different in style and making, diverse in backgrounds with loud and clear messages. The title of the movie ‘Kerala Café’ is a hotel at a railway station and certain characters from each shorts pass through it, though they never share any mutual acquaintance.

The experiment opens with a prologue by ace director Sathyan Anthikkad, who is there to remind you about the experimental nature of the film and what is there that suits your expectations. Among the ten films, it seems that Anwar Rasheed's ‘Bridge’ was the one that has invited the maximum claps. ‘Bridge’ is a tale told in two parallel tracks about a young boy who finds a pet kitten from the street and about a son (Salim Kumar) who is forced to leave his ailing mother in the streets. The movie is the one done with the most of technical brilliance and imagery in the collection, perhaps in the league of any acclaimed international movies. And that desolate, empty, lost feel is conveyed instantly to the audience who were left with nothing other than to stand up and applaud the shortie.

Anjali Menon's ‘Happy Journey’ was another stand out movie with a small thread about the psyche of middle aged Malayalee men. This short is an effective hilarious take about an insurance surveyor (Jagathy) who likes to flirt a little. Here he is trying to make advancements to a pretty girl, while they are travelling in adjacent seats in a bus from Ernakulam to Kozhikkod, but in the end the girl proves too smart for the man to handle. Jagathy Sreekumar after a long time, has got the space to prove his versatility while Nithya as the sweet brainy girl, proves that she is here to stay.

‘Puram Kazhchakal’ had that Lal Jose stamp all over with Mammootty and Sreenivasan taking the helm of affairs. Both appears subtle throughout but effective and the narrative surprises us in the final shot which makes you desperate to make a flash back through the previous events.

Debutant director Shankar Ramakrishnan's ‘Island Express’ takes time to settle with diverse unlinked characters but offers heavy appeal towards the end when the real theme unleashes in that spectacular run. It is all about the leftovers of real-life Perumon tragedy that happened in 1988, leaving 100 odd persons to 'Jalasamadhi'. Perhaps this is one movie in the assortment which speaks in more volumes than it decipher and announces the arrival of a promising director who has all the proceedings perfectly under his control.

B Unnikrishanan's ‘Aviraamam’ is another look at the effect of recession in the lives of an IT professional. Honest performances by Siddique and Shwetha Menon are the highlights of this movie. Shaji Kailas's ‘Lalitham Hairanmayim’ has all that visual appeals and effects of the directors' other endeavours, but tells a thread about infidelity in a fast pace.

Shyam Prasad's ‘Off Season’ is the one in a lighter vein that the director had never attempted previously. The movie is about the life of a tourist guide in Kovalam, though invites interest in the opening part but doesn't have that content to hold, all through. ‘Nostalgia’ the first movie in the assortment is about Johnny, a NRI millionaire played by Dileep who is nostalgic about his homeland when he is abroad. And when he reaches Kerala, he is a different man who hardly values family ties and friendship. The movie which meanders in usual family movie patterns is an adaptation of Venugopal's ‘Naattuvazhikal’. Similar is Revathy's ‘Makal’ which have the strongest thread in the collection, but remains mediocre fare due to its straightforward narratives.

Young director Uday Ananthan's ‘Mrityunjayam’, stands away from the rest due to its genre of horror and handling of the plot. The movie, about the mystery surrounding an old illam and how an young TV journalist, (Fahad Fazil), arrives with his crew attempting an investigative series on its mystery factors, offers plenty to correlate in the climax.

The designer of the project, director Renjith definitely has a winner in ‘Kerala Café’, showcasing how to use intelligently the great gifts of Mollywood cinema. Almost half of the stories deal with the losses and nature of losses and their effects on humans. The performances in the movie from the seniors like Mammootty, Sreenivasan and Jyothrimayi to relative fresh faces like Fahad Fazil and Dhanya Mary, Rima Kallingal etc are a treat to watch. Altogether this kaleidoscope of great images, issues and emotions are a must watch in terms of freshness of concept and innovation in Mollywood.

Upcomming Movie Yugapurushan Preview

Yugapurushan, the film based on the vision of Sree Narayana Guru, the mystic and social reformer of Kerala, started at Ottapalam on Wednesday. After the pooja at Varikkaassery Mana, the first shot was taken. The pooja started at 9 a.m. Mammootty, Navya Nair, Kalabhavan Mani, Saikumar, Thalai Vasal Vijai, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri, Producer A.V. Anoop, Director R. Sukumaran, Ottapalam and M.L.A A.M. Hamsa attended the function. Niece of Social reformer Ayyankali Ponnamma lighted the lamp. In the second shot Mammootty enacted the role of K.C. Kuttan, a revolutionary who lived and supported the guru’s principles and teachings in the same period. Mohanlal dons the character of Swamy Vivekananda while Babu Antony is in the role of Ayyankali, a Harijan leader in Kerala. Navya Nair is cast in the role of a Brahmin lady named Savithri Antharjanam, who loves and marries a 'pulayan' named Koran. Thalaivasal Vijay will don the role of Sree Narayana Guru in his seventies.

The movie will also present historic personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore, Chattambi Swamikal, poet Kumaranasan, T.K. Madhavan, Ayyankaali and Mannathu Padmanabhan. Also in the cast are Jagathy Sreekumar, Kalabhavan Mani, Saikumar, Siddique, Devan, Saiju Kurup, Sukumari and Shobha Mohan.

Director said, The film is not to meant to describe the complete life of Sree Narayana Guru, but to portray how the vision of Guru changed the history of the society. Thus the new generation can understand the significance of Guru's vision. The movie also aims to break the notion that Sree Narayana Guru belonged to a particular segment in the society. Unlike common entertainment film, Yugapurushan will guide the forthcoming generations. Other locations are Kannur, Cherthala, Mysore and Srilanka. The film would be released in connection with the Guru Jayanthi celebrations in September. The estimated cost of the film is five crore. Earlier films of R. Sukumaran are Padamudra and Rajasilpi. The script of Yugapurushan is by R. Sukumaran and lyrics by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri. Music is by Mohan Sithara and Camera by Ramachandra Babu. Banner of the film is AVM Productions. Yugapurashan is based on the history of Sreenaayana Guru

Mammoottys' new movie Daddy Cool review

Superstar Mammootty's latest Malayalam movie Daddy Cool got released today. This new film directed by debutant director Aashiq Abu opened in around 80 centers all across the state. This new Mammootty starrer is said to be a hillarious family entertainer, which was produced by Ananya films and distributed by Marikkar films.

As per the initial reports, this new film is carrying an impressive initial reviews, which will surely help the movie to get into the safer side as early as possible. Actually, this new film is just only an average flick with nothing new in it. Frankly speaking, it's very clear that the major letdown is in the part of script, which has a problem that most of it's characters are one dimensional.

In the acting side, Mammootty as usual has made a descent effort to make his character a notable one. The other notable actors in the film were master Dhananjay, Biju Menon and Daniel Balaji. All others have done their respective jobs very nicely except the heroine Richa Pallod. Even though her role in this movie is a short one, she was really amatuerish in her acting.

In the technical side, the debutant director Aashiq Abu has done good work though his script is weak. Sameer Thahir, the young cinematographer has done his work, but don’t expect anything above average. High decibel background music in many places and the title graphics at the start was really a treat to viewers. Songs in this film are also not mind blowing.

All in all, this new Mammootty starrer Daddy Cool is an average flick, that has the potential to make into the hit charts, if it's not challenged with anyother big movies. This film may appeal to you, if you are a follower of cliched family entertainers and according to me this new movie is a watchable one, that too with your kids.

New Malayalam movie Puthiya Mukham Review, stills and photogallery

Puthiya Mukham is the latest malayalam movie which is released yesterday. The movie features Prithviraj, Bala, Meeranandhan and priyamani in the main cast. The movie is directed by Deepan who debuted in malayalam film industry through this film. The first thing i want to say about this movie is that it has no story in it.

The movie starts with the introduction of Prithviraj as a musician. The plot of the movie is based on the engineering study of Prithviraj and incidents caused in his life in the college. Prithviraj is doing the role of Krishnakumar , basically a bhramin. Meera Nandhan and Priyamani are the heroines of prithviraj in the movie.Bala who is the rich guy in college likes to marry Priyamani who is also his family friend. Priyamani is a fresher and in Krishna Kumar’s class. Like many other girls, she too gets attracted to him and gives him special care. Bala feels insulted and tries to regain her.

The story takes a backseat here the rest are all kicks, punches and slaps. It is at this portion Puthiya Mugham becomes unique. The director takes effort to give each fight an individuality which bestows beauty. Fans call him the upcoming Megastar. Fighting machine Prithviraj proves to be the Numero Uno angry youth in Malayalam Industry.

Bala has good role. This will be the second role for Bala to gain him some attention in Malayalam. Earlier with his character in Big B he pocketed major roles in more than twenty films, now Puthiya Mugam will provide him roles till his next hit. Meera Nandan who is also making her presence felt in Tamil is eye candy as the lover of hero. She has the look, Color and flavor of a natural malayali girl.

Sudheesh and Jagadheesh are funny at times and have managed not to overact. Lots of young artists acted in this film and have done their part well. Script by Sindhuraj has got flow. The hard work in pre production stage is visible. The characters are natural. But people cannot identify intensity of their motive. Each action and dialogue is backed by a reason. The film does not have big dialogues or preachy speeches.

Watching Puthiya Mugham is like viewing a Tamil film with the sensibility of Malayalam. Each scene is taken richly. Scores of people are managed and were filled in frame. Camera by Bharani K. Dharan sets the tensity. Action director Analarassu needs special mention. Editing by Samjith MHD is good. Graphics, Background are all in tune with cinema. Couple of songs seems to be hit.

Technically this film has surpassed most Malayalam films. Puthiya Mugham can’t boast much, but will punch your face, roll you in floor and slug you to wall. Deepan is proving film is more visual orientated than tailored to story. It is high time a through out action film has sold tickets in counter. As they say in poster Puthiya Mukham is for the youth and this will be a new beginning.

This movie is a one man Show of PrithviRaj. It's not a must watchable movie and surely will become an average hit.
