Nagesh Kukunoor is known films that speak about the spirit of life. His films Iqbal, & DOR has its special touch & the pretty different colors of jail life & its celebration. AASHAYEIN (Hope) is another attempt by the filmmaker on the same lines.
Rahul (John Abraham) wins sizable time in betting & announces his retirement (they was actually rare). At a party to celebrate his victory, they proposes to his girlfriend to Nafisa (seasonal Sehgal). While give her a kiss, they was on the ground collapses. Medical reports show they has only a few months to live as they is suffering from lung cancer.
A mournful Rahul comes to know about a hospital without apprising Nafisa leaf in the midst of the night. At the hospice, they meets a variety of people spending their last few days. Rahul & his new mate Padma (Anaitha Nair) designs are a bit more joy in to the lives of dying people to be involved.
AASHAYEIN is noble attempt, but was terrible in its execution. This is a hell to stay awake & from bad to worse as clock ticks. Nagesh has the right purpose. But the film gets abstract to understand. While the first half is passable, the RAIDERS of the lost ARK track in the second half is absurd to say the least. Despite a logical reason for it, it is still hard to fathom, for lack of a cord to go.
